Key Principles of Godly Play Part 3

Key Principles of Godly Play. Holy Spirit offers Godly Play each Sunday in the Children’s Center. This is the third in a series of articles that give some background about the 13 principles that are the foundation for Godly Play. Look for a new article each month.

The third principle is that Godly Play allows children to learn through both language and play. If you visit the Godly Play classroom, you will see a variety of sensorial materials the children can work with in a safe, stimulating environment. In this way, Godly Play combines and integrates the two primary gateways to knowing for young children - language (the verbal system) and play (the nonverbal system). This is one of the characteristics that make Godly Play a distinctive approach to Christian ministry with children, both innovative and deeply grounded in our spiritual tradition.
